What’s it all about?
The survey is called the Thriving Synagogue Learning Tool. It was developed by the Cohen Center for Modern Jewish Studies at Brandeis University with support from SYNERGY and UJA-Federation of New York.
All individual responses are completely confidential. Only totals are reported to UJA and Temple Israel of Lawrence.
Who should participate?
Everyone who comes to Temple Israel of Lawrence regularly! Members and non-members! Survey responses are anonymous. To make the results truly representative, we have a goal of 100% participation!
When is the survey?
We will be taking responses until end of business March 29th. We should have the results about 2 months later.

What will the survey measure?
The survey seeks to measure whether Synagogues and communities are ‘thriving.‘ It will measure how the membership feels about current operations and future prospects in categories such as:
- Vital Energy
- Intentional Leadership
- Fostering a Sense of Community
- Engaging With Other Organizations
The survey does not evaluate individual staff members, nor does it measure satisfaction with particular programs.
How long will it take? Where do I fill it out?
It should take 15 minutes. There are 75 questions to answer on a 5 point scale from strongly agree to strongly disagree.
The survey is online at http://thrivingsyn.com/surveyTILNY11559. You may fill it out between February 26th and end of business March 29th.
